Mondrian Singapore Duxton is elevating elegance in hospitality, as it has unveiled a new design that will “create a contemporary new cultural experience” for its guests.
The hotel's design draws inspiration from Chinatown's historical shophouses and Singapore's vibrant culture, utilizing a "deconstructed shophouse" style. The new look is crafted by Los Angeles-based design house Studio Carter, in collaboration with Singaporean architectural firm DP Architects.
Suneeth Changaroth, director of DP Architects, shared that Mondrian’s façade attempts to exude a modern vibe while still showcasing the traditional shophouse typology.

The new design approach can be seen inside Mondrian’s Shophouse Suites, which feature vaulted ceilings, arched wooden shutters, and Murphy-style beds. The hotel’s rooms are also designed with warm timber accents, copper or steel arches, contemporary furniture, and visually pleasing lighting options.
Moreover, Mondrian’s dining spots shied away from the stuffy interiors, with Bottega di Carna, Chef Dario Cecchini’s restaurant, overlooking the Mondrian Garden and its 1970s Hollywood-themed Canyon Club Rooftop Bar boasting a 360-degree view of the Lion City’s spectacular skyline.

Another highlight is the Jungle Ballroom, a cocktail bar inside Mondrian that evokes a mysterious atmosphere with its “secret tunnel” entrance and kaleidoscopic artworks.
“Duxton Hill is like nowhere else, it’s Singapore’s most happening district, it feels like a village with its preserved shophouses and eclectic mix of cocktail bars, restaurants, and nightlife,” said Robbyn Carter, principal and founder of Studio Carter.
