We’re saying it… out loud!
#TeamEdward has much to be excited about because a new animated series based on the multi-billion franchise“Twilight” is currently in development at Netflix!
The story will be adapted from “Midnight Sun,” the companion novel to Stephanie Meyer’s “Twilight” saga which is a retelling of the first book from the perspective of “sparkly” vampire heartthrob, Edward Cullen.
The series was first announced in 2023 byLionsgate, who was also the producers behind the five film adaptations of the four other books in the series: “Twilight,” “New Moon,” “Eclipse,” and “Breaking Dawn” that starred Robert Pattinson as vampire Edward and Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, the human girl he fell in love with.
This global box office hit franchise also made stars of Taylor Lautner, the werewolf and second love interest, Jacob Black; Anna Kendrick, Bella’s friend, Jessica; and Ashley Greene, Edward’s adoptive future-seeing sister, Alice.
The saga's author will be the executive producer of the show, alongside her Fickle Fish Films partner Meghan Hibbett; Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen for Temple Hill Entertainment, and Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey for Picturestart. Sinead Daly was also reported to serve as executive producer and writer for the series.
“Midnight Sun” chronicles Edward’s perspective on his romance with Bella. The first twelve chapters of the manuscript were leaked online in 2008, which saddened the author and made her post it herself while declaring that it is “on hold indefinitely.” Just when we’ve all accepted it, Stephanie sent fans into a meltdown when she announced its official publication in 2020—proving that the beloved vampire tale remains immortal in our hearts.
No release dates have been announced, so stay tuned! We’re also dying to sink our teeth into this new series.
