Her designs draw inspiration from Eastern folklore, fantasy, and architectural marvels, making each piece a unique work of art. Guo Pei has dressed notable figures, including Chinese celebrities like Song Zuying at the 2008 Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremony and Rihanna, who was wearing Guo Pei's daring yellow Empress Cape at the 2015 Met Gala, capturing attention worldwide.

The exhibition showcases over 40 haute couture pieces, including the pop star's iconic Met Gala gown, and selections from key collections spanning nearly 30 years of her career, as well as Guo Pei's early designs.

Organized into five main themes, the display highlights Guo Pei's distinctive style, which resonates with imperial Chinese dress codes, European royal fashion, architectural influences, and botanical motifs.

To kick off the exhibition, Guo Pei will give a special talk on Sept. 21. Additionally, M+ will host two screenings of "Yellow Is Forbidden," a biographical documentary that chronicles Guo Pei’s journey through the elite and often exclusionary world of haute couture.

Don’t miss the chance to immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Guo Pei. Tickets to the exhibition are priced at HK$160 for standard tickets and HK$80 for concessions. They also offer discounted rates for those getting dual passes, M+ members, and M+ patrons. Find out more here.
