As the summer heat kicks in, a new dual-concept spot, Snack Baby, has opened on Hollywood Road, offering a range of freshly churned gelato and drinks, including traditional, lactose-free, and dairy-free options, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Located between the stone stairs of Shin Hing and Mee Lun Streets, Snack Baby features a sleek glass and stainless steel pozzetti to keep their gelato in optimal condition for quality and taste. Customers can watch gelato being made in the glass-walled “lab” while deciding on their flavors.
Snack Baby offers a rotating selection of 14 flavors, including Mint Stracciatella, which features lactose-free milk steeped with fresh mint and mixed with dark chocolate shards. Another highlight is the Peanut Butter Crunch, a dairy-free option made from house-churned cashew and peanut milk with homemade brittle chunks.
A standout traditional flavor is the RichMilk, made with a Fior di Latte base, caramelized mascarpone, and Snack Crackle, a house-made buttercrunch. “We provide a wide selection of lactose-free and dairy-free alternatives without sacrificing quality or flavor, so more people can savor the joy a scoop or three of gelato can bring,” said JC Lombard, founder of Snack Baby.
In addition to gelato, Snack Baby offers a range of beverages, including milkshakes, cocktails, low- and no-alcohol drinks. Head Bartender Sebastian Robinson created signature cocktails like the Alpine Spritz and the coffee-based Affogato Baby.
Snack Baby’s interior, designed by Alexis Dupont, channels the mid-century modernist cafes and bars of 1960s Milan, aiming to be an inclusive and welcoming neighborhood venue.
