Calling all gamers! The wait is finally coming to an end as Japanese multi-video game company, Nintendo, finally drops a teaser trailer for their Nintendo Switch 2, which is slated to launch this year!

The Nintendo Switch is a unique hybrid gaming system that blends handheld and home console experiences. The inaugural system was released in 2017 and has since become the company’s best-selling home console and the third best-selling game console of all time following the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS.

Seven years later and after a series of leaks and online speculations, Nintendo finally dropped a two-minute first look trailer revealing the new system, highlighting a slightly larger console and a sleek black design. Check out the exciting upgrade here:

Not many details were revealed in the video, but a Nintendo Direct broadcast is scheduled for Apr. 2, where you can tune in to get a closer and more detailed look at the Nintendo Switch successor. The upcoming system is also reported to be backward compatible, meaning it will play both physical and digital Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive games, as well as the previous Nintendo Switch games. The video briefly showed a brand-new “Mario Kart” game, much to “Super Mario” game fans’ delight!

Nintendo will be hosting Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events across the globe where you can get your hands on the device prior to its release. In Asia, events will be held in Tokyo (Apr. 26 to 27), Seoul (May 31 to June 1), Hong Kong, and Taipei. Dates for the latter cities will be announced soon, and event tickets will be made available through a free-to-enter, randomly selected drawing.
