Film buffs, you are in for a treat this November! The most-awaited Bangkok World Film Festival is making its return this year for its 16th edition, featuring more than 80 critically acclaimed films.
From Nov. 7 to 17, the Bangkok World Film Festival will screen films from all over the world at the SF World Cinema in Centralworld. This year’s edition will focus on works by emerging directors as well as films by new Thai directors who are shaping the country’s cinema industry.
The festival will also be accompanied by several seminar sessions, featuring the directors and actors of the featured films. Here, cinephiles can take part in the conversation to learn more about the Thai film industry.
“The event will also serve as a bridge to lead Thai films to international stages,” said Adisak Limparungpatanakij, special adviser of Nation Group, one of the festival’s organizers, in a press release.
Meanwhile, Chalermchatri Yukol, chairman of the National Soft Power Development Subcommittee in Film Industry, the event’s sponsor, hopes that the festival will help Thai filmmakers grow by using the event as a platform to express themselves freely.
Bangkok World Film Festival, held since 2004, is one of the biggest film festivals in Southeast Asia and has since paved the way for Thai filmmakers to be known on the international stage.
